Q & A

Q & A

5G is superior to 4G in terms of the following :

SPEED With 5G technology, data transmission is 24 times faster than with its predecessor, 4G. 4K or 8K, or song album downloads can be done merely within a few seconds while mobile browsing becomes possible just in the blink of an eye, making your internet experience even more real-time.

LATENCY Since 5G latency is less than 1-10 milliseconds, it can be used to perform remote surgery and adopted in autonomous vehicles, factory automation or even unmanned remote construction.

CONNECTIVITY 5G technology supports a density of a million devices—10 times greater than before. It is therefore expected to be the main enabler for smart cities where countless sensors are employed in urban areas for water and air quality meters, city lighting systems, smart poles to connect with autonomous vehicles, etc.

The validity period is 15 years for all bands.

AIS 5G is in the 700MHz, 2600 MHz, and 26 GHz bandwidths—the greatest when compared with those of other operators. The bandwidths meet global standards, making them compatible with most devices currently available.

It’s the standard use of 5G technology.

As a company with the top market share in the nation, AIS seeks to address the growing demand of Thai people.

This bandwidth has the most extensive coverage.

During the first phase, the coverage is limited in some areas. However, the expansion of 5G network is in progress—to meet the growing demand of users as much as possible.

AIS Network Team is devoting all-out effort to achieve expanded network coverage. AIS will constantly keep the customers informed.

The speed indicated in the advertisement is based on the maximum specifications of the engineering standard. The speed in the actual use will depend on the following factors:

  • Devices which must be 5G-compatible
  • Specifications of the device in use
  • Data/Internet traffic volume during a period of time

  • This may be due to various factors as follows:
  • Devices which must be 5G-compatible
  • Specifications of the device in use
  • Data/Internet traffic volume during a period of time

It depends on the application of each service provider.

  • This may be due to various factors as follows:
  • Devices which must be 5G-compatible
  • Specifications of the device in use
  • Data/Internet traffic volume during a period of time

Today’s smartphones support speeds of 1-2 Gbps. Factors that affect device speeds include device specifications, data traffic, noise, signal strength, etc.

  1. Simply apply for 5G Max Speed or 5G Hot Deal MAXX, or buy 5G on-top package.
  2. Customers who subscribe a new number, mobile number portability or change from pre-paid to post-paid system, with a 5G-compatible smartphone (those who have not received the right of free internet before), dial *955 to get FREE 10GB 5G data allowance for three months.
  3. The customer is required to dial *955 to activate 5G.

You can send an SMS/MMS and make a call just like when you use 4G.

Calls/ phone conversations can be made as normal.

Please check the status of your package. If it is not in use, try switching your device off and on.

Try switching your device off and on, and check if there is the VoLTE symbol appearing on the screen (for iPhones, the symbol appears as 4G when making an outgoing call). If no VoLTE or 4G symbol is found, please check if your current area has the coverage.

It is common for smartphones to heat up after use over an extended period of time, after 4K video downloads or after large file downloads.

As 4G and 5G are technologies that support internet use, devices automatically shift to 3G temporarily when there is an incoming/outgoing call, and automatically go back to 5G after the telephone conversation.

  1. You may be in an area with no 5G coverage.
  2. Please check the 5G setting in your device.
