IoT Connectivity

AIS has the extensive IoT network coverage
and great usability needed to provide a variety of IoT solutions

such as a Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN) including NB-IoT and eMTC, and a Cellular Broadband Network with 3G and 4G LTE capabilities, as well as Fibre Optic internet connections (AIS Fibre).

LPWAN: Low-Power Wide-Area Network

NB-IoT (Narrow Band Internet-of-Things) / eMTC (Enhanced Machine-Type Communication)

NB-IoT and eMTC are the standard connections used by the Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN) from the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP). The same goes for 3G and 4G devices which are specially designed for IoT equipment and solutions, and serve as the foundation of the future 5G network.

NB-IoT and eMTC provide the functional support for IoT equipment and can be used for 10 years without having to change the battery. They can be used in hard-to-reach areas, such as underground pipelines and shafts in high-rise buildings, without compromising the 4G LTE safety standards. This technology increases connectivity potential while reducing power constraints, and is suitable for usage by Solutions groups, such as Smart City, Smart Industrial, Smart Logistics, and Smart Home.

3G / 4G / NEXT G

Cellular Broadband Network

The AIS high-performance network provides cover to over 98% of the population through 3G, 4G and NEXT G networks, which are under constant development to ensure the provision of superior services. AIS has designed its networks in accordance with frequency standards in order to support IoT, with 3G using the 2100MHz frequency and 4G using the 1800MHz, 2100MHZ and 900MHz frequencies. The 3G and 4G networks are best suited for tasks that require mobility or fast data transmission, such as telematics or CCTV systems.

Fibre Optic

Aside from providing wireless network capabilities such as 3G and 4G, AIS also provides a fibre optic cable network that offers superb stability and large bandwidth. Now available nationwide, this service is particularly useful for those who need to provide online streaming (VDO streaming) or require a service solution for a closed circuit surveillance system in the Smart City concept.

Incorporating Multiple Network technologies

Each IoT Solution service requires different network connectivity features. Therefore, AIS has designed its services to offer a wide range of networking options, which users can select and combine to serve their specific task requirements.

Specialized Network– Corporate APN

In order to meet the growing demand for safer and more efficient IoT network solutions, the AIS Corporate APN was created to divide network usage and support specialized network design in order to support specialized service solution providers such as Mobile ATM, Mobile EDC, Fleet Management, and Telemetry service providers.

  • Dedicate APN
  • Better security
    • SIM profile
    • Customized authentication
    • Customized network
  • Better quality of service
    • Dedicate core network
    • APN priority
