Frequently Asked
Questions

NEXT G combines Mobile Data speed with WiFi speed to achieve faster data transfer speed (up to 1 Gbps). The speed that you will receive depends on the package you are using. To use the NEXT G service, you must meet these requirements:
  • You must enable the NEXT G function on the phone (Setting / Connections / NEXT G)
  • The Mobile Data must be turned on
  • You must have the NEXT G package
  • You must have the AIS Super WiFi/AIS WiFi package
  • You must be within the AIS Smart Login coverage area and logged in to the system for using the NEXT G service effectively.
The current NEXT G supporting models are Samsung Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge, S8, S8 Plus
You should check if your device supports the service or not by dialing *987# For Android phones (Samsung) you must:
1.1 Update the Firmware to the latest version that supports the NEXT G service
  • SW Version : G935FXXU1DQER/XXU1DQER/OLB1DQER for the S7 Edge
  • SW Version : G930FXXU1DQER/XXU1DQER/OLB1DQEO for the S7
  • SW Version : G950FXXU1AQG5 for the S8
  • SW Version : G955FXXU1AQG5 for the S8+
1.2 Enable the NEXT G service under the Setting menu> Connections> NEXT G> On
1.3 Check to see if the package you are on supports NEXT G or not.
The 1,099 Baht 4G MAX Speed Unlimited postpaid package and above can use the NEXT G service free of charge with an unlimited quota. If you are using a different package you can purchase the NEXT G on-top package for 159 Baht and get a 5GB NEXT G allowance and unlimited AIS SUPER WiFi for 7 days.
You must follow these procedures in order to use the NEXT G service:
1. The phone must support the NEXT G service
2. The Mobile Data 4G/3G function must be turned on
3. The WiFi function must be turned on and you must be within the AIS WiFi coverage area.
4. There are 2 types of the NEXT G packages.
  • If you have the 1,099 Baht 4G MAX Speed Unlimited postpaid package and over, you can use the NEXT G service for Free with an unlimited quota.
  • If you are a prepaid and postpaid customer who doesn’t have the above package, you can purchase the NEXT G on-top package if your phone supports the NEXT G service. (If your phone does not support the NEXT G service, you can still use the internet through 4G/3G/WiFi).
5. You must turn on the NEXT G function on the phone. Once the symbol NEXT G appears on the status bar, the service is ready to use.
The NEXT G service will be turned off once the Airplane Mode is activated since the service requires Mobile Data and a WiFi connection in order to work. Please turn off the Airplane Mode and turn on the Mobile Data Network service and the WiFi connection first.
NEXT G can only be fully functional when the phone is connected and logged into AIS Super WiFi or AIS Smart Login.
You can enjoy the NEXT G service nationwide where both AIS 4G and AIS WiFi/AIS Super WiFi/ AIS Smart Logins are present.
If you have a NEXT G supported device and the NEXT G package, you can use the service once the NEXT G function is turned on. The service rates will be as stated in your NEXT G Package.

The NEXT G service is for domestic use only.

  • On the 3G/4G network, if the phone is connected to the 3G network, is connected to the 3G network, the speed will be lower than connected to 4G network, the combined speed will also go up. Network Congestion in the area can also affect the speed greatly if you use the service while in an area where many people are using wireless data. The internet package plays an important role as well. If you use the 384Kbps unlimited internet package, the mobile data speed will be limited to just 384Kbps.
  • On the WiFi network side, if you connect to the AIS WiFi, which has a speed cap of 10/1Mbps, this will make the combined speed lower than when connecting to the AIS SUPER WiFi, which has a 650 Mbps speed cap. And just like the Mobile Data, network congestion plays an important role in the transfer speed as well.
Once the package quota is reached, you will not be able to use the NEXT G service. You can still use the internet data through other channels that are still available on your package but a message will prompt you to turn off the NEXT G service.
Using the (*129*1#) service to turn off the internet connection will also disrupt the NEXT G service since it requires Mobile Data connection. But you can use WiFi normally.
You will not be able to use the NEXT G service since the only functioning connection is the 4G/4G+ connection.

You can simply turn off the NEXT G service under the menu Setting-> Connections -> Next G-> Off

In order to use the NEXT G service, you must meet these minimum requirements
  • You must be within the AIS WiFi coverage area
  • The phone must be connected to the Mobile Data Network
  • You must have subscribed to the NEXT G package
  • The phone must be connected to a functioning AIS WiFi/AIS Super WiFi
  • You must turn on the NEXT G function by going to the menu Setting-> Connections-> NEXT G and enabling it. Then you should wait for the NEXT G symbol to appear on the status screen prior to using the service.
In the case of 2-SIM phones, if one of the SIMs is an AIS NEXT G enabled SIM, there will be a menu for the NEXT G connection for it. However, the Data connection will be based on the Activate Data SIM card only. If the Data connection is through the AIS SIM card then NEXT G will be available but if the other SIM is the main Data connection then the NEXT G service will not be available.
You can use the NEXT G service with your Multi SIM.
Once you turn on the USB/ Bluetooth Tethering or Mobile Hotspot, the NEXT G service will automatically be disabled.

It is not possible to use both NEXT G and WiFi Direct at the same time.

The Download Booster function is a Samsung special function to assist the download of a file larger than 30 MB. NEXT G is a new technology that combines 4G Mobile Data speed with WiFi speed to increase download/upload and streaming speeds.
Once NEXT G is on, the system will prompt you to turn off the Download Booster right away since the 2 services cannot work at the same time.
