  • AIS issued two sets of debentures with 3.5-year maturity worth Baht 5,000 million at the coupon rate of 4% per year during the first 2.5 year and at 5% in the last year, and a 5-year maturity worth Baht 2,500 million, at the coupon rate of 4% per year during the 1st and 2nd years, and 5% during the 3rd and 4th year, and 6% in the 5th year. These debentures are offered to both retail institutional investors. AIS debentures received an “AA” credit rating from TRIS Rating Co., Ltd.


  • GSM advance changed its logo and service under the concept “Smart Life from GSM Advance - Choose it right, live life the way you desire.”
  • AIS launched a project called “Oon Jai Dai Tam” (Oon Jai receives points) to offer added value to customers from the normal operations by give away an accumulate points for future discounts and special prize every month.


  • AIS introduced the latest technology “Connect Talk” for the first time in Thailand that customers can have their own number in other countries so that people who live abroad can connect to such number at local rate.
  • AIS launched “International Voice SMS” - another choice of international connection voice message that customers can leave voice messages at international numbers around the world with a flat rate of Baht 9 per message.
  • AIS joined with RIM launched BlackBerry Curve 8900, the latest smart phone from BlackBerry that is thin and lightweight, suitable for work and daily lifestyles.


  • At the 2009 Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, a resolution was passed approving a dividend payment for the six-month operations of 2008 (1 July - 31 December 2008) at the rate of Baht 3.30 per share to all shareholders from approximately 2,962 million shares, or approximately Baht 9,774 million. The Company paid the dividend to shareholders on 4 May 2009.
  • AIS was as one of the world leading public companies by the Forbes magazine as one of the world leading public companies, and ranked number 6 from 10 of the leading companies in Thailand, in which AIS was the only Thai mobile operator that received a ranking in this survey among 2,000 companies worldwide. The ranking was conducted according to its total sales, net profit, total assets and market capitalization.


  • The Board of Directors at its Meeting No. 4/2009 approved the appointment of Mr. Arak Chonlatanon as the Executive Committee in place of Dr. Dumrong Kasemset who resigned from his position, effective from 14 May 2009 onwards.
  • AIS was awarded as the top Thai company by FinanceAsia magazine in area of best managed company, best investor relations, and most committed to a strong dividend policy. The Company was also ranked number 2 for the best corporate social responsibility and ranked number 5 for the best corporate governance.
  • AIS was awarded the Outstanding Company 2009 by the Finance and Banking magazine, ranked number 2 and received the number 1 position in the information and communication sector.


  • AIS joined with RIM launched BlackBerry Storm, the first BlackBerry’s touch screen smart phone. AIS offered special promotion to meet every demand of mass market including postpaid, prepaid, and foreigners who travels inbound.
  • AIS presented automatic weather information on mobile phone at 408 stations, totaling amount Baht 20 million to Institution of Water Resources and Agriculture (public organization), Ministry of Science and Technology, in support of their work in effectively planning of water management for both private and public organizations.
  • AIS introduced Thailand’s first Wind Power Radio Base Station at Baan Ampur, Chonburi to help cope with the global warming with a clean energy.
  • AIS together with Population and Community Development built “Children Development Center Sarn Rak 4 at Nakorn Ratchasrima” with the budget of Baht 4 million and gave to the Sub-district Administrative Organization (SAO), Jakkarach sub-district, Nakorn Ratchasrima as the community center for take care and teaching of pre-school children.


  • Data Network Solutions Company Limited (“DNS”), a 49% subsidiary of the Company, had completed the process of liquidation on 22 July 2009 and as a result is dissolved as a juristic entity. DNS had not been operating the business for several years. Therefore, the liquidation of DNS has not affected the Company’s business operation.


  • The Board of Directors at its Meeting No.5/2009 approved a dividend payment for the first 6 months of operations of 2009 (1 January - 30 June 2009) at the rate of Baht 3.00 per share to all shareholders from approximately 2,963 million shares or approximately Baht 8,890 million. The Company paid the dividend on 10 September 2009.
  • The Board of Directors at its Meeting No.5/2009 approved the appointment of Mr. Vikrom Sriprataks as the Vice-Chairman of the Executive Committee, and Mr. Wichian Mektrakarn as the Chief Executive Officer, and Mr. Hui Weng Cheong as the Chief Operating Officer, effective from 1 September 2009 onwards.
  • AIS was voted Brand of the Year 2008-2009 by Superbrands, an independent organization which offers ranking for organizations in area of brand creativity.


  • AIS, together with the Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT) and I Access jointly introduced “Airport flight Info” which customers can check flight information via AIS mobile phone. They also launched Airport flight info SIM for air service and tourism operators to enhance management and develop the standard of national air services to international level.


  • AIS received the most innovative Thai companies among Asia’s top 200 companies by Wall Street Journal Asia.
  • AIS was awarded one of the top ten Thailand’s Most Innovative Companies 2009 in the survey organized by the Faculty of Commerce and Accountancy Chulalongkorn University and Krungthep Thurakit newspaper, The Nation Group.
  • AIS received the Securities Analysts Association (SAA) Picked Awarded in the Best CEO, Best Listed Company, Best CFO and Best Investor Relations categories.
  • AIS emphasized its readiness on 3G service by expanding the Super 3G network using HSPA technology on 900 MHz frequency at Hua Hin, following the successful launch in Chiang Mai and Chonburi provinces
  • On 14 October 2009, Mobile Broadband Business Company Limited (MBB) has registered its company with the Ministry of Commerce, with the registered capital of Baht 120 million. MBB is a subsidiary of Advance Wireless Network Company Limited (AWN), which the Company holds 99.99% of its shares.
  • On 19 October 2009, Advanced Mobile Broadband Company Limited (AMB) has registered its company with the Ministry of Commerce, with a registered capital of Baht 100 million. AMB is an indirect subsidiary of the Company and a subsidiary of MBB, which holds 99.99% of its shares.


  • The Board of Directors at its Meeting No.6/2009 approved the appointment of Mr. Yeo Eng Choon as a Director, replacing Mr. Ng Kwon Kee who resigned from the position, effective 6 November 2009.
  • AIS received the Health Psychology Creative Media Reward 2009 in the area of television commercial, “Family supports each other through crisis”, part of AIS’ Sarn Rak project, released by the Department of Mental Health during the Mental Health Media Award 2009.


  • AIS was awarded the Best Thai Company and ranked third among the top mobile operators globally by Euromoney Asia magazine for its most convincing and coherent strategy. AIS was also named the Best Thai Company for its Good Corporate Governance.
  • AIS received a Plaque of Appreciation in recognition for its support of career path promotion for the disabled at the International Disable Day Extravaganza 2009 organized by Life Quality and Social Promotion Committee, Thai Chamber of Commerce and Thai Business Capital Assembly.
  • Business.com magazine conducted a survey on Urban Brand Loyalty and AIS was voted top for mobile phone brand among consumers.
  • AIS launched Facebook and Twitter Alert on mobile service for the first time in Thailand in respond to the demand of modern generation. Customers are able to quickly and conveniently receive and post real-time messages via SMS.
  • AIS celebrated 10th Anniversary of the launch of One-2-Call! service.


  • AIS and TOT Corporation Public Company Limited (TOT) signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in which both companies initially agreed in principle to co-operate and support each other’s businesses. The co-operation features “Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC)” to utilize existing networks more efficiently and to co-develop new products and services in response to dynamic changes in technology and consumer lifestyles. The integration of wireline and wireless technologies is expected to provide greater benefits to consumers.
  • AIS bought the ordinary shares of Advanced Mpay Co., Ltd. (AMP), 69.99% of its shares held by AIS, in the proportion of 30% from NTT DoCoMo Co., Ltd. The numbers of purchased shares were 9,000,000 shares, valued Baht 126,000,000. After the acquisition, the percentage of AIS’s holding in AMP increased to 99.99%.
  • AIS released the “AIS Smart SMEs” concept in order to increase the efficiency and business potential of more than 2.2 million Thai SMEs producers throughout the country. The AIS Smart SMEs has 6 tools of business solutions, consisting of Market Share Opportunity Service, Business Communication Service, After Sales Service, AIS Smart Solutions Service, Information and Data via SMEs Hot Line 1149 Service, and AIS Privilege Plus for public & private sector partnerships.
  • GSM advance and One-2-Call! are rated as the most admired brand of the year 2008, ranked number 1 and number 2 respectively, as researched by BrandAge magazine.
  • AIS’s Sarn Rak project won the relation-glory award “Sang Ngern” 2007 which recognizes companies that demonstrate excellence and visibility in public relations as acknowledged by the entire community of the Public Relations Society of Thailand.
  • AIS Sarn Rak KonKeng, Hua Jai Krang (Strong Heart, Great Man) TV Program won the “Kids Awards” for protecting children’s rights in partnership with the Christian Network Society for Development of Youth and Office of the Health Promotion in Thailand.


  • AIS launched an energy-saving network under the concept “Green Network” to raise awareness and promote efforts to decrease Global Warming. The Green Network utilized many approaches in creating ways to use energy more efficiently.
  • AIS Call Center launched three new services namely : 5 Foreign Languages which include Chinese, Japanese, Korean, French and English to facilitate a comfortable stay for foreign residents and travelers in Thailand; Dialect Service - North, South and Northeast - to help service our upcountry customers in a language most familiar and comfortable to them, and lastly the Web Cam Service to improve call center service for our online customers.


  • TRIS Rating Co., Ltd. affirmed the credit rating of AIS at an “AA” with “stable” outlook reflecting AIS’s marketing leading status in Thai mobile industry. Achieving the “AA/stable” credit rating is credited largely to AIS’s professional and capable management team who continues to navigate the Company amidst Thailand’s competitive market and its capability to lead the organization to stability and progressive growth.
  • The Board of Directors’ meeting No. 3/2008 approved a capital increase from Baht 1 million to Baht 300 million in the Super Broadband Network Co., Ltd. (SBN), a 99.93% subsidiary of the Company. After the capital increase, AIS’s percentage holding in SBN increased to 99.99%. The proceeds from this capital increase will be used to fund investment in a transmission network.


  • At the 2008 Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, a resolution was passed approving a dividend payment for the six-month operation period from 1 July 2007- 31 December 2007 at the rate of Baht 3.30 per share on approximately 2,960 million registered and paid-up shares, or approximately Baht 9,769 million. The Company paid a dividend to shareholders on 8 May 2008.
  • AIS issued 5-year-Unsecured Bonds to retail market valued Baht 4,000 million. The bonds had a 4.0% interest for the first 2 years and 4.90% interest for the subsequent 3 years. The bonds received an “AA” credit rating from TRIS Rating Co., Ltd.


  • Digital Phone Co., Ltd., (DPC), 98.55% of its shares held by AIS, settled a dispute with Total Access Communication Public Company Limited (DTAC) regarding three arbitral cases in which DTAC filed against DPC for the assignment of the rights to operate the PCN 1800, the facilities and equipment, the roaming fee according to the Agreement to Unwind the Service Provider Agreement (“Unwind Agreement”). On 30 May, 2008, DPC agreed to pay DTAC for Baht 3,000 million.
  • AIS sold the ordinary shares of Advanced Data Network Communications Co., Ltd. (“ADC”), which 51.00% of its shares are held by the Company to Digital Phone Co., Ltd. (“DPC”). The selling price was Baht 199,240,761.60 which was based on the ADC’s book value as of 29 February, 2008. After the disposal, ADC remains the Company’s subsidiary through DPC’s holding. The objective of this transaction is to restructure the group organization to create a synergy of voice and data communication via mobile and internet network that will add more values to DPC in the future.
  • Data Line Thai Company Limited (DLT), 65.00% of its total shares is owned by AIS, completed its liquidation process with the Ministry of Commerce and as a result was dissolved as a juristic entity effective on 13 May, 2008. DLT had not been operating since 2007. Therefore, the liquidation of DLT did not affect the normal business operations of the Company.
  • GSM advance joined to help preserve the environment and decrease paper usage by inviting customers to register for its “GSM e-Statement” service which delivers monthly invoices via e-mail.
  • AIS and GSM advance launched 3 GSM advance service: The Hi-Speed Internet via mobile phone and Video Call Service with HSPA technology on 900 MHz in Chiang Mai, where is the first area in Thailand to have access to this service.


  • The Board of Directors approved the appointment of Mr. Allen Lew Yoong Keong as the Chairman of the Executive Committee replacing Mr. Somprasong Boonyachai, who resigned from this position, effective 1 June 2008.
  • Asian Mobile News Magazine selected AIS as the Best Asian Mobile Operator of the Year 2008 and the Best Mobile Operator of the Year, Thailand 2008.
  • AIS was ranked 7th in The Wall Street Journal Asia’s annual survey of leading Thai companies and was the only Thai mobile operator to be awarded in the top ten ranking in this notable distinction. This ranking also qualified AIS as one of the 200 most desirable companies in Asia. Furthermore, AIS is qualified as the only mobile operator who has quality of goods and services.


  • AIS joined hands with the Northern School for the Blind under the Royal Patronage of H.M. the Queen in Chiang Mai to offer the career opportunities to the blinds in provincial areas by opening a Call Center called “AIS Call Center to create job opportunity for blind people” following the highly successful 2007 launch of the same service in Bangkok.


  • The Board of Directors meeting No.5/2008 approved an interim dividend payment for the 6-month period of 2008 between 1 January, 2008 – 30 June, 2008 at the rate of Baht 3.00 per share from approximately 2,962 million registered and paid- up shares, totaling approximately of Baht 8,885 million. The dividend was paid to shareholders on 10 September 2008.
  • AIS launched a system for the police called “Sai Suerb Meu Teu (Mobile Phone Detective)”, which enables all the policemen and AIS users to send information by SMS to the information center for real time profile checking of lost cars, missing people, fugitives, etc. This program will help stimulate the effectiveness of the police’s detective system.


  • AIS’s Sarn Rak program “Kon Keng Hua Jai Grang (Strong Heart, Great Man” received Project of the Year 2008 honors from the Ministry of Culture for its Kon Dee Kid Dee Sangkom Dee (Nice Person, Good Thought, Good Social) which recognizes AIS for its advocacy and promote of the well being of the Thai community.


  • The Board of Directors’ meeting (Special agenda) approved the appointment of Mr. Somprasong Boonyachai as the Vice- Chairman of the Board of Directors, effective from 8 October 2008.
  • Standard & Poor’s (S&P), an international credit rating agency, upgraded the outlook of AIS from “Negative” to “Stable” and affirmed an “A-” corporate credit rating that reflects AIS’s ability to maintain its leading market share in the Thai telecommunications industry due to its strong brand recognition, greater network coverage, superior service quality and strong financial fundamentals.
  • AIS extended career opportunities to the deaf by hiring them for call center positions and entitling them to the same privileges as other employees. This call center service provides information to customers through sign language Real Talk Service (iSign) delivered via webcam.
  • AIS released a new idea to differentiate its brand under the With you, Always (Yuu Kieng Kang Kun) concept by having an animated character named “Nong Oun Jai” representing the symbol of friendship between AIS customers in the following 5 areas : Network Quality, Customer Service, Service Advancement, Privileges, and Corporate Social Responsibility.


  • The Board of Directors’ meeting No. 6/2008 approved the capital reduction of the Digital Phone Co., Ltd. (DPC), a network operator of 1800 MHz GSM and a 98.55% subsidiary of AIS, by reducing its registered capital from Baht 14,621,861,680 to Baht 4,386,558,504 or from par value of Baht 10 to Baht 3 without any change in the number of shares. After the capital reduction, the number of shares that AIS holds in DPC and its percentage holding will both remain unchanged. The objective of the capital reduction is to improve DPC’s capital structure by returning excess cash to its shareholders.
  • The Board of Directors approved the capital increase in Advanced Wireless Network Co., Ltd. (AWN), a 99.93% subsidiary of AIS, from Baht 1 million to Baht 350 million without any change in par value. After the capital increase, the percentage of AIS’s holding in AWN will increase to 99.99%. The proceeds from the capital increase will be reserved for future investment.
  • The Board of Directors approved the dissolution of Data Network Solutions Co., Ltd. (DNS), a service provider of online data communication via telephone landlines in provincial areas and a 49.00% subsidiary AIS. DNS had not been in operation for several years. Therefore, the dissolution of DNS does not affect the Company’s business operations.
  • AIS received the Health Psychology Creative Media Reward 2008 in the area of television commercials, “O-Kasd (Opportunity)” series, released by the Department of Mental Health during the National Mental Health Week event.


  • AIS is the first provider of the 3G service with HSPA technology on 900 MHz in Bangkok which was first launched in Chiangmai this past May. The services include Video Call, Data Service via AIS Mobile Internet, and The Wireless Hi-Speed Internet Usage.
  • AIS was awarded “The Best in Corporate Governance in Thailand 2008” ranked no. 4 by the Asset magazine. In addition, AIS was the only Thai mobile operator to be awarded at this notable ranking.
  • AIS received the 2008 award from the National Office for Employment of Persons with Disabilities (NEP) for the best workplace for persons with disabilities. AIS was honored to receive this distinction on the International Day for Disabled Persons (IDD.).
  • AIS received the Popular Vote Award 2008 for being Thailand’s Most Innovative Company organized by Faculty of Commerce and Accountancy, Chulalongkorn University and Bangkok BIZ Week, the Nation Group.


  • AIS signed an Interconnection agreement with True Move Co., Ltd.
  • TRIS Rating Co., Ltd., a Thai local rating agency affirmed “AA” corporate and debenture credit rating for AIS.
  • Fitch Ratings Ltd., an international credit rating agency, affirmed AIS’s long-term local currency issuer credit rating of “AA” and long-term foreign currency issuer rating of “BBB+”.
  • AIS partnered with Google, one of the world’s largest search engines, to provide mobile internet service.
  • AIS Sarn Rak-Kon Keng Hua Jai Krang (Strong Heart, Great Man), a television documentary received the Television Gold Award 2006 in the “Knowledge Promotion of Moral and Code of Conduct” category. The award was presented by the Television Promotion Club, Chamnong Rangsikul Foundation and Office of the National Culture Committee.


  • The Board of Directors’ meeting No. 3/2007 approved the appointment of Mr. Vikrom Sriprataks, Chief of Technology Officer (CTO), as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), responsible for wireless communications business, in place of Mr. Somprasong Boonyachai, who remains the Company’s Executive Chairman. The appointment was effective on 1 July 2007.
  • AIN GlobalComm Co., Ltd. (AIN) officially launched its international telephone service accessed via the 005 dialing prefix.


  • At the 2007 Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, the shareholders passed a resolution to approve a declaration of dividend for 2,955 million shares of Baht 3.30 per share, equivalent to a total of Baht 9,750 million. The dividend declaration was for the six-month operational period from 1 July - 31 December 2006.
  • AIS was a proud recipient of the 2007 Outstanding Consumer Television Advertising awards, organized by the Consumer Protection Association. AIS was the first runner-up for the “Shaving” advertising and the second runner-up in the Social, Art and Culture and Environmental Promotion category for the “Always Smile” advertising.


  • Wireless Device Supply Co., Ltd. (WDS) was registered with the Ministry of Commerce as an importer and distributor of mobile phones and related accessories. This business was previously undertaken by Digital Phone Co., Ltd. (DPC).
  • AIS announced an appointment of Mr. Somchai Lertsutiwong as Executive Vice President Marketing, responsible for determining strategies and policy related to management of marketing products including the prepaid and postpaid services, international roaming service, Serenade and individual customers.


  • The Board of Directors’ meeting No. 4/2007 approved the Company’s investment in Bridge Mobile Pte Co., Ltd. (Singapore), which was formed through a joint force of mobile operators from 10 Asia Pacific countries to support the international roaming service. AIS purchased 2.0 million shares in Bridge Mobile, representing 10% of its registered capital and equivalent to US$ 2.7 million.
  • Standard & Poor’s (S&P), an international credit rating agency affirmed “A-” corporate credit rating for AIS but revised outlook to negative from stable.
  • GSM advance joined its business alliance with ROK TV, the UK-based mobile TV developer, in launching ROK TV on mobile service. For the first time in Thailand, cable TV programs are available on mobile phone.
  • AIS and Microsoft launched AIS Smart Office services, offering e-mail solution and enterprise messaging solution to corporate users.


  • AIS announced new management appointments in order to enhance operational effectiveness namely Mrs. Vilasinee Puddhikarant, as Vice President, Customer & Service Management responsible for customer relations management or CRM; Mr. Komsan Buppanimite as Vice President, Channel Management responsible for marketing channel, distribution, agents, Telewiz shops and pay station; Mr. Waroonthep Watcharaporn as Managing Director Advanced MPAY responsible for mPAY financial transaction on mobile; and Mr. Surawat Shinawatra as Managing Director Advanced Contact Center responsible for management and customer service at the Call Center.
  • Digital Phone Co., Ltd. (DPC) launched its house brand mobile phone called “Phone One”.
  • AIS One-2-Call! launched its first brail letters prepaid card for customers who are visually impaired. Part of the proceeds was donated to the Blind Association of Thailand.


  • The Board of Directors’ Meeting No. 5/2007 passed a resolution to approve a declaration of interim dividend for 2,957 million shares of Baht 3.00 per share to the Company’s shareholders, equivalent to the total of Baht 8,871 million. The interim dividend was declared for the six-month operational period from 1 January – 30 June 2007.
  • AIS was awarded the “Best in Corporate Governance” by The Asset Magazine at The Asset Magazine’s Annual Corporate Governance Ranking 2007. ë FinanceAsia Magazine presented a second-runner up award for the “Most Committed to a Strong Dividend Policy in Thailand” to AIS.
  • Super Broadband Network Co., Ltd. (SBN) was granted a Type-3 facility-based license from the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) to operate facility-based telecommunication services to the public.


  • AIS officially opened its new call center at the Foundation for the Blind in Thailand under the Royal Patronage of H.M. the Queen to offer job opportunity for the blinds and visually impaired persons as AIS call center’s staffs.


  • AIS received the 2007 Plaque of Appreciation from the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security for its “Sarn Rak-Kon Keng Hua Jai Krang” television program as a social contribution project that helps those who are in need.
  • Super Broadband Network Co., Ltd. (SBN) was granted a Type-1 license from the NTC to operate the internet services. The Company also received a Type-2 license from NTC to operate the international internet gateway services.


  • Super Broadband Network Co., Ltd. (SBN) launched the first VoIP service under the name “AIS Net Call”, which was available for the Thai Chamber of Commerce University students on WiFi network.


  • AIS MobileLIFE adopted the Industry Convergence concept and introduced 2D Barcode technology for mobile phones through a Barcode Access service allowing customers to receive news and information at greater speeds.
  • AIS Sawasdee introduced its “Di Di” service enabling customers to receive calls from the AIS network without having to pay a monthly fee or any “extras”.
  • On 23rd January 2006, major shareholding group of Shin Corporation Public Company Limited (“SHIN”) sold shares to Cedar Holding Company Limited (“Cedar”) and Aspen Holding Company Limited (“Aspen”). Cedar and Aspen were obliged to make a tender offer for all securities of the Company (Voluntary Tender Offer) at 72.31 Baht per share. The resolution of SHIN’ s Board of Directors’ meeting No.1/2006 held on 23rd January 2006, stated that SHIN would not sell the proportion of SHIN ordinary shares as the business generate major revenue for the Company and SHIN has continued to maintain effective operating results.


  • AIS joined forces with Nokia and Awaya in telecommunications network design and management using Enterprise Fixed Mobile Convergence to enhance operational effectiveness for corporate customers.
  • AIS established the Telewiz Academy, an institution to help train and develop Telewiz employees to become professional customer service agents.


  • AIS together with Ericsson, Huawei, NEC, Nokia, and Siemens announced their plan for network development with a special emphasis on network quality to further strengthen operational capacity and network expansion, and to maximise efficiency of GPRS operations.


  • AIS and Nokia introduced Music Portal, a mobile music shop for users of Nokia 3250 handsets, and Music Phone, an alternative for artists and music lovers.


  • AIS introduced multimedia video ringtones enabling customers to receive both images and sound with incoming calls.


  • AIS Smart Solutions and Nokia launched wireless e-mail on Nokia E61 handsets especially for large organisations and businessmen, enabling connection to other wireless e-mail solutions such as BlackBerry and Microsoft ActiveSync for Exchange, and thus allowing users to carry on with business activities seamlessly.


  • AIS initiated the “With you at every step of the way for a better life” concept with the latest technology and innovative ideas at Bangkok International ICT Expo 2006. A special set of gold One-2-Call prepaid cards in 36 designs were also introduced to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of His Majesty the King’s Accession to the Throne.
  • AIS started a one-stop payment service bringing greater convenience to customers by allowing payment for over 20 services at a single “Pay Station” located at over 700 AIS offices and Telewiz shops nationwide.


  • AIS GSM organised four exciting promotional programs: S, M, L, and XL offering greater choice in response to customer behaviour in different target groups.
  • AIS Sawasdee’s “Oon Oon” program was introduced allowing customers to make calls to other customers using the same network for just two baht per minute 24-hours-a-day. Prepaid cards are valid for one year regardless of its value.
  • AIS One-2-Call and OK Cash launched the “One-2-Call Visa Card”, the only credit card which is both a prepaid card and a credit card.
  • AIS Mobile Life offered customers a unique calling experience with “Background Melody *955”, a service that provides musical effects and backgrounds during conversation.
  • Advanced Info Service Public Company Limited’s Board of Directors meeting No 7/2006, held on 15 August 2006, approved additional investment in its subsidiary, AIS International Network Company Limited, of which AIS currently holds 99.93 percent of shares. AIN’s registered capital will be increased from Baht 1 million to Baht 200 million, and its paid-up capital will be increased from Baht 1 million to Baht 100 million. A request was made for part payment of Baht 99 million for which AIS would hold 99.99 percent of shares.


  • AIS responded to the policy of the National Telecommunications Committee by changing all mobile phone numbers from 9 to 10 digits.
  • Following the “Greatness of Small Power” concept, AIS One-2-Call launched a project entitled “In Search of Cream of the Crop” amongst university graduates in order to generate new ideas and creativity. The project offers 12 educational sponsorships of Baht 100,000 and the opportunity to work with senior executives of three large organisations, namely AIS One-2-Call, SC Matchbox and Index Event Agency.
  • Advanced Info Service Public Company Limited’s Extraordinary Shareholders’ Meeting No 1/2549, held on 8 August 2006, approved the acquisition of loans for network expansion and for payment of due debentures to be used as circulated capital. The loan amount and proposed debentures should not exceed Baht 2,500 million or equivalent in other currencies. On 7 September 2006, the Company issued three tranches of unsubordinated and unsecured debentures with a debenture holders’ representative in the total amount of Baht 11,427.10 million, at a par value of Baht 1,000 per unit


  • AIS introduced “Pinky” Sawika Chaidej as the first presenter of “Sawasdee” and launched a campaign to encourage Thais to greet each other with the word “Sawasdee” under the slogan “Everyone says Sawasdee in Thailand”.
  • AIS GSM implemented the Consumer Mind Marketing strategy to create a new brand under the name “Let’s Go GSM Advance”.


  • AIS joined forces with hospitals throughout Thailand to provide discounts on health check programs with the AIS Plus Card.
  • AIS launched www.connect.ais.co.th an online community for AIS customers and a centre to exchange information related to mobile phones. The site also offers information, techniques and suggestions to further improve AIS services.
  • AIS signed an Interconnection Charge agreement with Total Access Communications Public Company Limited (DTAC).


  • AIS together with five news offices introduced “News on Demand”, a service for Nokia E61 handsets allowing mobile users to read news in summary on mobile similar to that of news bulletins available on websites.
  • AIS and Tesco Lotus introduced an e-prepaid service under the name “Tesco Lotus E-Top Up” where customers can conveniently top up their prepaid card at Tesco Lotus counters.


  • AIS One-2-Call! launched a new marketing strategy using a mass segmentation technique to respond to the demands of each customer group while introducing “Sawasdee” as part of the Company’s marketing expansion plan to serve specific groups of customers.


  • AIS adopted a channel integration and bridging strategy to further develop its sales distribution channel in order to enhance efficiency of Telewiz shops in the market. This strategy also helped dealers to provide better service to all customers.
  • AIS, in cooperation with its business partners, organised a “SOHO Solutions” project, to strengthen confidence among SMEs in the availability and readiness of equipment, business management systems, network features and 24-hour consultant services.


  • AIS reoraganised its branch service stations nation wide to offer a one-stop service point under the concept “we can serve every need” exhibiting progress from Total Base to Total Solutions Base.
  • The introduction of "Evolution 2" offering customers a choice between monthly payment and a pre-paid card under one number.


  • AIS GSM introduced new technology to meet the requirements of a modern lifestyle where customers are able to personally program their handset to receive welcome calls and block unwanted calls.


  • AIS One-2-Call! organised two special programs for two groups of customers. The “Sure Sure” program offers a highly efficient network to allow for easy connection and the “Nan Nan” program from AIS Sawasdee enables customers to make as many calls as they wish for only 100 baht per month. With these programs, customers in provincial areas will find mobile phone connection and communication easier and more suitable for their lifestyles.


  • AIS, together with Telewiz shops nationwide, developed the “Mobile Spirit” project by inviting Telewiz staff to attend a seminar on optional programs and sales techniques. Over 500 front-office staff, working at Telewiz shops nationwide were appointed “Mobile Ambassador” to offer advice and suggestions to local customers.
  • AIS and Thailand Elite, in cooperation with Business Week magazine, organised the 14th Asia Leadership Forum, offering a platform to exchange information on trade and investment for business people worldwide.
  • AIS, together with the Metropolitan Electricity Authority, extended the capabilities of mPAY enabling customers to pay for their electricity via mobile phone. mPAY offers a more modern and convenient channel of payment.
  • AIS announced the names of eight university students who joined the NWO project, the second group of management trainees to assist with the Virtual Organisation program by creating new experiences for Thai youths and encouraging them to learn from direct experience.


  • The Stock Exchange of Thailand and Financial and Banking magazine presented three awards to AIS at the SET Awards 2005 for Best Performance under the technology category, Best Investor Relations and Best Corporate Governance Report.


  • AIS was awarded for its effort in giving special importance to innovation and creativity as well as marketing excellence at the Thailand Corporate Excellence Awards 2004, which was organised by the Business Association Club of Thailand and Sasin of Chulalongkorn University.
  • AIS launched Advance MPAY Company Limited, a joint venture between AIS and NTT DoCoMo Incorporation Company Limited to provide financial transaction services via mobile phone.
  • AIS restructured its marketing management unit to further promote service efficiency and customer service by setting up special customer service units comprising four main working groups. The aim is to bring service to customers, set strategies and marketing plans to manage customer relationships, ensure service development and support, and coordinate and assess service standards.
  • AIS organised “AIS Plus” offering a wide range of special activities, and special offers and privileges to help enhance the quality of customers’ life and meet customers’ demands while at the same time adopting customer centric techniques to better serve all customers’ needs.
  • AIS GSM launched the “New Gen” program to allow customers to personally set their spending and expenses, time of payment and payment method.


  • Following an extraordinary shareholders’ meeting, AIS debentures were divided into six tranches. Payment for tranche 1/2001 is due in 2006 (AIS063A), tranche 3/2001 is due in 2005 (AOS06NA), tranche 1/2002 is due in 2009 (AIS093A), tranche 2/2004 is due in 2009 (AIS093B), tranche 3/2004 is due in 2007 (AIS073A), and tranche 4/2004 is due in 2007 (AIS07OA). Consequently, the meeting gave approval for the Company to pay dividends to shareholders each year at over 40 percent the amount of the Company’s net profit provided that the Company received a reliability rating of not lower than AA at least 45 days before the Board of Directors approved payment of the dividends.


  • AIS received an AA- rating from Standard and Poor’s (S&P), moving up from the previous BBB+ rating, which reflects the Company’s strength in being the largest mobile phone service provider in Thailand.

  • AIS received a BBB+ rating from Standard and Poor’s (S&P), moving up from the previous year’s rating of BBB, a rating representing stable corporate reliability given to privately owned companies.This also reflects the Company’s strength as being the largest mobile phone operator in Thailand.
  • An Institutional Investor Group Publication presented “Best CEO” and “Best Investor Relations Awards 2004” to AIS following an opinion survey from international institutional investors.
  • AIS joined with over 200 banks and retail stores to offer 500 mPAY service counters to customers. Designed by a team from Future Lab, mPAY created a new chapter in the history of Financial Transaction by combining wireless services with the spending lifestyle of Thais. mPAY offers a lifestyle with quality at every step, plus added convenience and safety, allowing users to check expenditure at any time.
  • AIS was voted for the “Best CEO in Thailand 2004” and was ranked the third “Overall Best Managed Company in Thailand” with market capitalisation of over US$700 million by asiamoney magazine.
  • Euromoney magazine voted AIS the “Best Managed Company in Thailand” and “Best Managed Cellular Telecom Company in Asia”, reflecting the Company’s management effectiveness and credibility. The survey was conducted of companies both in Thailand and throughout Asia.


  • The Cabinet announced the use of Royal Decree for Excise Tax on the Telecommunications business, which requires telecommunication service providers to allocate part of its revenue to the Excise Department, under the supervision of the Ministry of Finance. This practice is conducted instead of sending all the revenue to the concession owners , as specified in the cooperation agreement between the conces- sion owners and concessionaires. As a result, AIS and DPC both allocate ten percent of their revenue to the Ministry of Finance and the rest of the payment is made to the concession owners.


  • AIS, together with Microsoft Corporation launched the first innovative design in the Asian region called Smart Solution 2003, through mobile phone Windows Powered Smart Solution. Users are able to select a range of applications from Pocket Outlook, Pocket Internet Explorer, MSN Messenger and Windows Media Player.


  • AIS re-emphasised its brand identity as an Innovative Operator by offering a new dimension to its mobileLIFE service, the centre of all value-added services, under the concept "mobileLIFE is your everyday life". This added extra value and enjoyment for mobile phone users, suitable for today's life in the modern world.
  • AIS launched an exciting "TV on Mobile" service, where users can enjoy television programs broadcast on Thai TV Channels 3, 5, 7, 9, 11 and ITV via their mobile phone through the GPRS system under the concept "Anytime Anywhere Everyone".


  • AIS has continued to place special emphasis on creating value added services by developing GSM Advance Evolution-Power to Connect or Borderless Evolution. This was done to underscore that mobile handsets will not only be a communication tool in the future, but will also add fun, convenience and quality to life, through wireless services.


  • AIS launched a wireless service through Enhanced Data Rates for GSM Evolution or EDGE, covering key provinces throughout Thailand including Bangkok, Pattaya, Chonburi, Nakorn Ratchasrima, Konkaen, Chiang Mai and Phuket. With this technology, AIS is able to better respond to customers' demand for both voice and information utilisation compared to other operators.


  • The Office of the Securities and Exchange Commission named AIS as an exemplary company for disclosing quality information in view of investors and fund managers, and the company was awarded the Disclosure Report Award 2003.

  • The Company issued the 8000 Million Baht Debenture offered to institutional and individual investors.

  • The Company has changed the Company’s auditor from KPMG Audit (Thailand) Co., Ltd. to PricewaterhouseCoopers ABAS Ltd. effective as of the third quarter of 1999.


  • The Company acquired additional 40% stake of Shinawatra DataCom Co., Ltd. (SDC) from STI, resulting the Company’s shareholding in SDC up to 68%. Recently, SDC has changed its name to Advanced Datanetwork Communications Co., Ltd. since February 23, 2000.


  • AIS announced vision for telecommunications industry 2010 under the concept EcoSystem of Telecommunications which focuses on unity, inter-dependent and expanding together with maximum benefits for every group of Thai consumer.
  • AIS togehter with Kasikorn Bank introduced "Mobile payWave" service using Near Field Communication technology when making payment. The system is certified by Visa International and Kasikorn Bank.
  • On 8 January 2010, MIMO Tech Co., Ltd. (MMT) has registered its company with the Ministry of Commerce, with the registered capital of Baht 1 million . MMT is a subsidiary, which the Company holds 99.97% of its shares.
  • On 8 January 2010, Fax Lite Co.,Ltd. (FL) has registered its company with the Ministry of Commerce, with the registered capital of Baht 1 million. FL is a subsidiary, which the Company holds 99.97% of its shares
  • On 29 January 2010, Clearing House for Number Portability Co., Ltd. (CLH), a joint investment of 5 telecom operators in Thailand to provide mobile number portability service, has registered its company with the Ministry of Commerce, with the registered captail of Baht 2 million. The Company holds 20.00% of its shares.


  • AIS launched the latest BlackBerry Bold 9700 model.


  • AIS jointed the National Royal Thai Police Department to employ wireless technology on mobile to help trace information for fraud and care theft via “Police Sim”. The technology is available for police nationwide.
  • The board of Directors at its Meeting No. 3/2010 approved the appointment of Mr. Kim Siritavechai as a Member of Executive Commnitee, replacing Ms. Nidchanun Santhaveesuk who resigned from the position, effective from 25 March 2010 onwards.


  • AIS launched new BlackBerry Storm2 9520 Smart Phone.
  • For the first time in Thailand, GSM Advance together with Thailand Postal Office introduced a new payment system Pay@Post to provide online and real-time information and payment service.
  • At the 2010 Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, a resolution was passed approving a dividend payment for the six-month operations of 2009 at the rate of Baht 3.30 per share and approving a special dividend payment at the rate of Baht 5.00 per share, including Baht 8.30. The Company paid the dividend to shareholders on 30 April 2010.


  • The Board of Directors at its Meeting No. 4/2010 approved a capital increase in MIMO Tech Co., Ltd. from Baht 1 million to Baht 50 million. After the capital increase, the percentage of holding increased to 99.99%.


  • AIS launched innovative “Smart Secure” information back-up system where users are able to store and retrieve information including telephone number, SMS picture, VDO clip and e-mail via GPRS/EDGE technology in case of lost. Phone lock instructions to prevent access to information and erase information use 100% information security system.
  • One-2-Call! organized One-2-Call! BrandAge Award competition for Business Development plan that focuses on supporting students’ activities, educational scholarship and training programs to gain out of classroom and training programs to gain out of classroom experience to win Baht 500,000 scholarship.
  • AIS together with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment launched “AIS Give Battery Back the World” project to encourage consumers to dispose used or run down batteries in the correct way at any of AIS’s 33 branches nationwide for further recycle process.

  • One-2Call! together with Microsoft introduces new ChatSim. Customers are able to chat on mobile 24 hours without having to use the smart phone, company or notebook.
  • The Board of Directors at its Meeting No. 5/2010 approved a dividend payment for the first 6 months of operations of 2010 at the rate of Baht 3.00 per share to all shareholders from approximately 2,967.37 million shares or approximately Baht 8,902 million. The Company paid the dividend on 3 September 2010.


  • AIS launched new perspectives “Ecosystem for the next generation” featuring creativities through cooperation with all business partners ranging from device, content provider or even information owner and numerous benefits at 3.9G Thailand Human DNA.

  • The Board of Directors at its meeting No. 6/2010 approved a special dividend payment, at the dividend on 3 December 2010.

  • One-2-Call! introduced Chat’n Share, a data package enabling prepaid subscribers to chat, e-mail, and share pictures and video in Facebook and YouTube at low prices.
  • AIS and Google launched Google Chrome browser for AIS, a plug-and-play application bundled with AIS Aircard to enhance quality and user experience. Faster and easier to access data, select promotions and applications, AIS Aircard also features automatic protection to virus and malware while surfing the net.


  • At the 2011 Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, a resolution was passed approving a dividend payment for the six-month operations of 2010 (1 July -31 December 2010) at the rate of Baht 3.92 per share. The Company paid the dividend to shareholders on 26 April 2011.
  • AIS launched ‘Blue’ application. Users of iPhone can receive updates on money market in real time from the Stock Exchange of Thailand as well as 160 stock exchange markets worldwide.
  • AIS in conjunction with SE-ED PLC. developed ‘SE-ED Application’ allowing users to read books and articles on iPhone, iPad, Android mobile phones and tablets using AIS SIM.
  • AIN Global Comm Company Limited and Super Broadband Network Company Limited donated an internet center and public phone booth to Muang Yao Wittaya School, Lampang Province, as part of Universal Service Obligation project (USO) initiated by Office of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission.

  • AIS became the first Thai company to receive Best Entrepreneur Award in Southeast Asia in the category of Social Empowerment. The award was given by Enterprise Asia, a non-profit organization, during the Asia Responsible Entrepreneurship Awards 2011 (AREA) in Singapore.
  • AIS launched ‘Serenade Magazine,’ first digital magazine in Southeast Asia published by mobile operator. The public can read and interact with magazine contents on iPad 1, iPad 2, and Android tablets. The application is downloadable at no charge.


  • AIS in co-ordination with Thai Military Bank PLC offered ‘TMB Beep and Bill,’ an e-service that allows users to pay bills, purchase products and services, and perform bank transactions via mobile phone.


  • Advanced MPAY introduced ‘mPAY Online’ offering more choices to AIS subscribers to perform a variety of transactions and payment online.
  • The Board of Directors at its Meeting No.5/2011approved a dividend payment for the first 6 months of operations of 2011 at the rate of Baht 4.17 per share to all shareholders from approximately 2,973.1 million shares or approximately Baht 12,398 million. The Company paid the dividend on 2 September 2011.
  • The Company appointed Mrs. Suphajee Suthumpun to be Member of the Executive Committee, effective from 4 August 2011 onwards.

  • Digital Phone Company Limited (DPC), a 98.55% subsidiary of the Company, has registered the capital reduction with Business Development Department Ministry of Commerce, by reducing its registered capital from 1,462,186,168 shares to 365,546,542 shares, at the same par value of Baht 10. After the capital reduction, the Company continues to hold 98.55% of shares in DPC.
  • AIS offered Monitoring System Intelligence to Crime Suppression Division, Royal Thai Police. The MSI features mini video camera installed in police patrol car capable of recording pictures and sound surroundings in real time while the police are patrolling.

  • On 11 November 2011, Advanced Broadband Network Co., Ltd. (ABN) has registered its company with the Ministry of Commerce, with the registered capital of Baht 1 million. ABN is a subsidiary, which the Company holds 99.97% of its shares.


  • Srang Gun Mai, the latest title of public-spot announcement produced by Sarnrak, received Best PSA Award from Catholic Media Thailand.
  • AIS was evaluated by the Thai Institute of Directors (IOD) with the support from the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) at the “Excellent” or for three consecutive years.
  • AIS received “Outstanding Investor Relations Awards” among listed company who has over than Baht 10 billion market capitalization from SET Awards 2011 held by the Stock Exchange of Thailand and Money and Banking Magazine.
  • On 23 December 2011, Shin Corporation PLC. (Intouch), a major shareholder of the Company, has sold their shares in the Company in the amount of 61,000,000 shares representing about 2.05% of the total shares to Singtel Strategic Investments Pte. Ltd. (Singtel). As a result of the sale of shares, Intouch now holds 1,202,712,000 shares representing about 40.45% of the total shares of the Company and Singtel (including Thai Trust Fund and OCBC Nominees) holds 693,359,000 shares representing about 23.32% of the total shares of the Company.
